About Us

Since last summer a group has been meeting on the advancement of green jobs development. Representatives from business, community organizations, foundations, the Greater New Bedford Workforce Investment Board, Bristol Community College, and UMass Dartmouth have been part of these discussions.  In late 2008, the group decided to form SEA GREEN (Southeastern Green Jobs Network).

SEA-GREEN was formed under the belief that Massachusetts, and specifically the South Coast, has the potential to lead the nation in the transition to green jobs, alternative energy sources, sustainable production, transportation, food production and resource management.  To be most successful in this transition we must align, strengthen and coordinate regional efforts between private business, labor, education, community based organizations, workforce development, and economic development.

Vision

SEA-GREEN will participate in establishing standards and career paths for emerging green jobs industries by serving as a convener of stakeholders.  SEA-GREEN will increase funding opportunities and influence policy by working collaboratively and regionally with its members and partners.  SEA-GREEN will maintain such plans and data in a living, web-based format –  www.sea-green.org - which provides the opportunity for continual updating, revision, comment and feedback.
